How do u know when to re-valve ur shocks
#1
I purchased a set of YFZ front shocks for my raptor 700 and I'm hearing a "clunking" noise only from one shock. It almost sounds like it is topping out, not bottoming out. Does it need to be re-valved? I looked at the mount area and the shock does not appear to be moving so I rulled that out. Any advice?

There is no movement in the shock where it mounts to the A-Arm. So that cannot be the problem. The hole is the correct size, there is no movement from this area. It make the noise when I compress the front end and then let up. (I don't even have to compress down all the way). It is definetly coming from within the shock. Any ideas???
The shock appears the work good - has proper compression and rebound. Just makes this darn noise.

I found out what the "clunking" noise was.....I took the shocks to Magic Racing and turns out that there was a loose component inside the shock, causing the noise upon rebound. The shock needed to be rebuilt ($110 later.....no noise and shock works great). Unfortunately, a member on here (who I'll keep confidential because I'm a nice guy), sold me these shocks and didn't let me know that little detail before I bought them. (I was told they were nearly new and were in excellent working condition). I guess he got one over on me. Lesson learned, buy new, not used I could have bought a set of new 06's for the total price I paid.....
