I wonder what the efficiency factor would be with mounting a supercharger on a single cylinder?

How much horsepower and torque would they cost to make boost?

I wonder who machines the pulley's and custom case covers that protect them from sand and water for off road applications?

Is it the type of upgrade that will be userfriendly and price competetive enough when compared to the power gains to attract a broad market?

I am not saying it isn't possible. I know some have done it. I just would have questions about bang for your hassle.

Am I missing something here???? That article said nothing about a supercharged Rotax 650. It did talk about a 1.6 litre supercharged engine in the BMW Mini Cooper S, but there was no mention of the 650. Was there another link or page that I missed?(I looked at two pages). The only mention of a 650 was the failure of the BMW F650 in the Indian market in 1996. ????????? Am I loosing my mind?????

Yes. Superchargers are driven usually by belt from an additional pully attached at the end of the crankshaft. Boost directly a product of rpm. You can adjust how much overall boost is possible and how early it builds by changing pully sizes like you would sprockets on your final drive.

A turbo impellor is turned by exhaust gases coming out of the motor. Exhaust comes out at very high speed, it turns the impellor which builds manifold pressure on the intake side.

I have always wondered why turbo's are wastegate managed, whereas superchargers seem to be geared to make max boost at peak rpm with no wastegate. The question I have is why not gear the hell out of a supercharger so the boost starts building very early then manage max boost with a wastegate like a turbo?

Hmmm.......
