I've seen pictures of a supercharged DS. don't know where they are, or anything about it, or who made it.
I don't know how they extended the crank out the stator cover, or what means of sealing they used, it was covered by a guard that did not appear to be water tight in my memory.
It was a big hunk that definitely was in the way of being practical.

As soon as the mods approve my pics, there is a picture of a Supercharger on a DS there.

I think Noss is maybe the best route for power adders. The obsticles seem to include heat dissapation, avoiding pre-ignition and making sure your bottle is full enough for the pass you are on. The upsides seem to be low upfront cost, equal or better power output than physical forced induction and much lighter and less complicated. The technology has come a long way and aparently there has been a deplorable lack of curiosity within the industry as to how much power you can add with Noss. That is something we will have to rectify so the pompous industry leaders can take the credit when educating future customers about the risks they have not been willing to take themselves........... Ace.......the gestapo is back and ready to go on the bottle!

DSNUT,

It will only be a matter of time until they start hitting mainstream.

Thats actually a pretty old pic. When I first started looking at DS's in '03 that was one of the pics that kept coming up when I was searching for articles on the DS. At least from '03 could be a little older... I would'nt hold your breath on seeing that thing hitting the DS market any time soon. Just an FYI

This is correct. This is the ALBA Supercharged DS. ALBA, like Ron Wood hasen't done much for the DS lately. Most of their stuff is 4 to 5 years old. I think something like this would have more street relevance. Offroad applications seem to be well suited to Noss. I agree that Noss is quite limited in street talk because you can only go so high with octane before you are leaded. This also means that superchargers and turbo's will have to run less boost because more cylinder pressure creates more heat earlier so you can only run so much boost before you need higher octane fuel with a slower burn rate to avoid pre-ignition. I am not convinced that a supercharger would make that much power. Although they don't have the lag associated with turbo's, they are still top end biased since rpm is required to produce boost. I think Noss in offroad applications will yield far more bottom end and midrange if the Noss system and the supercharged system were setup to produce equal peak horsepower.

I don't think you could make as much boost by regearing a supercharger as you can with a turbo system. If you were to regear the supercharger to make that much in the midrange, it would draw far to much of your bottom end hp just to turn itself while making boost so early and you would need 200 octane fuel to handle the cylinder pressure (heat) at 9000 rpm. I think a supercharger is better suited to a larger, higher torque motor like a V8 that doesn't have such a broad rpm band.
