I have a 2000 Honda trx 300 fourtrax 4x4 and when i shift up to the next gear the shifter hangs up about every other other shift. To get it back down you have to push it back down with your foot ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!!!Text[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]Text

Its possible the return spring on the shift shaft is broken. Remove the clutch cover and inspect. Either that or the shaft is bent causing it to bind in the cases. Either one can be fixed easily.

 

Every other gear-is always the same gears? Like always odd or always even. I'd get a repair manual and tear the thing down. Transmission work is not for novices though. I'd label everything and store it in the exact way it was removed. Since it's only every other gear I'd say maybe something in the countershaft.

 

Is the shifter bolt loose on the outside? or is inside the motor?

 

Mine does the exact same thing. Did you find out what was causing it?
