Is there any reason why I can not run royal purple synthetic oil in the Rincon 680?

I can't think of a reason why you can not.

I am purchasing an '06 FourTrax Rancher this weekend. I have not had an ATV before but have had motorcycles. I checked the Honda website and it looks like their 4 cycle engines call for either 10w40 or 20w50. Honda has dino and synthetic motor oil. I can get Royal Purple on base for around $6 bucks/quart. Kinda pricy but it is what I will run unless someone wiyh more knowledge can tell me why I should not. btw I will use RP 10w40 full synthetic.

Maybe someone else can chime in with an opinion.

Regards

Just to follow up I went back to Honda's website for parts & service and the HP line of 4 cycle motor oils are a synthetic/mineral oil blend. But will would not hesitate to run full synthetic. I always ran Mobil 1 20w50 when I owned a Harley FLHTC with an 80 cid Evolution engine. It still would be a good idea to speak with someone who turns wrenches on the things to get their 2 cents worth.

Regards

I think the genuine honda oil has special additives in it since the rincon's transmission uses the same oil as the engine. The additives help the oil not break down.

Good Point... I was not aware that the tranny and engine used the same oil. That being the case I would defitinely check the owners manual for what it calls for. Although it will more than likely say use genine Honda oil. I guess a little reasearch would be in order.

I actually tried to find the Honda Rancher owners manual on line to help me research Honda quads before I purchase but it seems Honda does not have their owners manuals available for download. If u know different please let me know.

regards
