Longtime lurker, first time poster. I have gained much info off this site and had a couple of specific questions I could not find an answer in search. While I have had great luck with Honda, I have been kicking around the idea of a 250 CC Chinese Utility Quad for my wife and daughter. A manual clutch is a concern for them, so I had interest in the Kazuma Dingo 250. I can do some wrenching and not afraid to take carbs apart, but I am nervous over all the
posts on Kazuma stock carbs.

If not an automatic, I have been searching for a semi-auto wet clutch bike, but the only one was on e-bay. I was hoping for a little more established distributor. I noticed Raceway does not carry the Dingo 250

Any opinions on the Dingo 250, or info on wet clutch bike would be appreciated.

 

first on the carburator problems, just make sure to use a good filter and not a cheap $1-2 one, spend the $10 . also use a fuel addative. have you throught about the kazuma dingo 150 ? uses the honda gy6 engine with a cvt transmission, costs aound $1300-1400. also i did notice raceway sells a jetmoto 250 for $2200,looks just the the sunl 250 might want to look closley at that one. are you sure you want racks on the quads for the wife and daughter? they make the atv feel a lot bigger and heavier than they really are , might or might not be a good choice .

 

I have a dingo 250. I bought it last year. It's great since all I do is ride in the woods. Once you get the air/fuel screw adjusted right and the valve adjustments made you're all good. One thing I haven't really done is pull anything with it in dry weather. I pulled my brother-in-law behind it on a sled during the winter and it zipped his 200 lb **** around nicely.

Oh, I just noticed you're from Ohio. Are you close to the Indiana boarder at all? I'm about 30 minutes east of the Indiana/Ohio boarder.

 

Appreciate the responses. I was worried the Dingo 150 would be too small, but they are not big folks. They have no heavy hauling to do, mostly mild trails. We do have some steep climbs, and some sand and muck in the bottoms, as I live in east central Ohio where the land starts to move up and down. There is a Kazuma dealer in Toledo, so it might be worth the three hours or so to see what umph the bikes have.

 

I just went out riding my 250 today. The steep hills aren't a problem its the muck that will get you. I got stuck in a mud hole today. It was my own fault for not speeding through it like I should have.

From what I have read, the Dingo 250 is better than the Adult ATV 250. Just know, until they have a new carb....I'd look elsewhere. You see the adds. Adjust the fuel mixture, adjust the valves...if that doesn't work adjust etc. Just stay away until the Kazuma / Redcat come up with a solution[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

Next month Redcat releases a 400 cc 4x4. I think that would be something fun to try out...I think I'm gonna call my dealer to see if he can get one for me to demo.

 

I would make sure they fixed the carb problem before buying. If it is the same as the lower CC models w/ auto choke...pass on the Redcat and Kazuma right now.

 

Well, I figure they're not going to use the same carb for a 400 as they do on a 250. Size would be a big factor, I think they'd have to abandon the design they are using and copy something from like a honda fourtrax.
