SOME CITIES SAY THAT SINCE IT HAS 4 WHEELS ITWOULD BE A CAR AND HAVE TO MEET WHATEVER EMISSION STANDARDS THAT THEY HAVE. 3 WHEELS THEY STILL CALL IT A MCYCLE.

I guess it all depends on the state you are in. To my great surprise I was able to get my Sportsman 500 street legal here in California. I had to add turn signals, horn, mirrors, lighted license plate bracket, backup light and DOT legal tires, that they never checked for and I took off immediately, so that was a huge waste of money. I also had to go to a smog referee and get an exempt certificate. Also, liability insurance. I decided to get the plate so I could ride the streets in and around Quartzsite, AZ in the winter and so I could use it on the USFS roads that require street legal vehicles. I haven't had the ***** to ride the county and state roads in California. I spoke with a Highway Patrol Officer an he said he had never heard of a street legal ATV. He looked at it and said if he saw it on the highway he would probably write it and let the courts figure out if it was legal or not.

I would like to here from others who have a street legal ATV.
