Moose Plow Owners

I am trying to decide on the correct Moose plow and size for my needs. I have a Honda Rancher ES 350, and am not sure if I should get the County or standard plow. Like the idea behind the design of the County, but I may have the need to angle the plow both ways from time to time and by design, the County may not be good at dumping the snow on it's left side??
I live in northeastern Pa, where snows can be heavy, but still measured in inches and only occasionaly in feet. I plan on plowing a 800 foot, single lane blacktop driveway.
Any input is greatly appreciated. I just installed a Warn A2500 and look forward in adding the plow real soon.
P.S. Input on where the best place to purchase one is also helpful. Noted Hi-Persports online has respectable pricing. Anyone buy from them?

I've been looking at the Moose Plows also. I think I'm going to get the straight 60" blade for my 450' driveway. I can't justify the extra $ for the Country blade. I found a local Bike Shop who offered a 15% discount over retail prices which nets out to about $310 for the mount, push tube & blade. I'm acutally buying 2 kits so the amount is over $500 which means Moose will ship it to the shop free. Hope this helps a little, I agree with you about being able to push to the left & right.

I have the Moose 60" plow on my 1999 Sportsman 335. The plow works excellent, rolls snow very well. I use my winch to pick it up and down. The only negative thing I can say about it is the plow skids lack a little in the welding department. The weld on the threaded center rod of the plow skid didn't penetrate to well. If you go four wheeling definitely take off the mounting plate. I bent the plow mounting tabs when I left it on. I was able to bend them back. The plate attaches on my quad with four u-bolts. It is easy enough to remove. The mounting is very sturdy when attached. I haven't tried the plow on dirt yet. All in all, it is a quality piece. Definitely worth the dough. -Glen

I just bought a 60" county plow for my 99 Sportsman. The mounting brkt. was backordered so I'll have to wait to try it out. It's a heavy unit, but your Honda should push it in a low gear. They also offer a 50" version of the county plow.
I think it will push snow in either direction also. Their are 5 settings, so the blade can be angled quite a bit. The snow has no choice on which way to go.
When I do get it mounted I'll be pushing around a little top soil before the snow flies.
I do have a little pissin' & moaning to do though ,about a few things that weren't right when assembling the unit.
First, not enough hardware to put it together. In fact the box with the push tubes seemed to be missing an entire bag of bolts. It took several trips to the nuts & bolts bins to get it together.
Second, the peice of angle iron that is welded to the back bottom of the blade has a very noticable twist in it. So much so that the skids on each end sit at different angles to the ground. I'm not sure if this is right.
But I sure don't want to pay to send it back, like I said, Its heavy.

Thanks for all the input. I was able to email Moose direct and got even more advice.
I decided on a County 50" plow for my Rancher. I liked that it came with the rubber flap standard, which is a $20 option on the straight blades. Thus the County is only $27 more overall.
Thought about the County 60", but heavy, wet snows might prove a challenge. And for $50 extra, I felt it wasn't worth it..
I ordered the package from Hi-Persports.com yesterday. They had the best prices I could find. Total package was $320, plus shipping. That includes the plow, univ. push tubes, and the mount for the Rancher. I did not have to buy the lift kit, because I'll use a Warn 2500. Good price I thought. And I checked with Moose, they are a authorized dealer.
I'll follow up on the install and how long it takes to get the plow delivered. Now all I need is snow

2000 450es with 60" Moose County plow, no problem. Pushes snow or gravel off either side, but banks snow better off the right side. The short side of the blade is the same height as the standard plow and the high side is 10" higher. Have fun with your new plow....

Just a final followup. This week I received my order, a Moose County 50" plow with push tubes and mounting plate. All items were in good shape, even though the box the plow came in was quite tattered and held together by packaging tape on the one end.
Their assembly and installation instructions were clear and all the parts were present. The mounting bracket seemed to be a tight fit with the U brackets on the front bar. But it did fit once it was tightened.
One note to anyone ordering a plow kit. I got mine from Hi-Persports. I rate them as polite, knowledgeable and prompt. Their prices are quite good as well. However, they do NOT include Free shipping on their orders, as some other mail order companies do, ie: Dennis Kirk. Upon placing my order, I was told my shipping costs would be calculated in a day or two and I should call back at that time. I did, and was a little shocked. I did not realize that the plow kit's weight came to over 130 pounds. Basically, this added in excess of $65 in shipping costs to my order. Taking this into consideration, ordering from Dennis Kirk would have saved my over $25. Live and learn.
Now, all I need is a little snow and some practice. Thanks for all the posts.

Sure do. Information right from Moose. The Difference between the County and standard is 8 pounds more for the county. The entire plow package breaks down to:
County 50" Plow: 73 Pounds
Standard 50" Plow: 65 Pounds
Push Tube: 44 Pounds
Rancher Mount: 14 Pounds
I liked the design of the County. You can angle the plow either way, but in real deep snows, the extra blade height helps when you dump the snow to the right. Also, the County comes standard with the Rubber Top Flap, which is a $20+ accessory for the Standard plows.

I just used my plow for the first time this year. It is a County plow mounted on a 2000 Traxter w/ winch. We only got about 4 inches but it was more snow at one time than we had all last winter. I hope we get alot more. It was fun and had no problem at all. OK so 4" isn't alot but so what? The plow does work well when slanted to either side although it works best to the left for really rolling the snow. Our ground is not yet froze so on my dirt driveway I did scrape away alot of dirt with the snow. I did set the shoes up about as high as I could but my driveway is not very flat and it still scrapes the high spots. Hoping the ground freezes up soon before we get too much more snow. But hoping for alot more snow!
