Default What size rear rims?

Im going to start to race this year. I am going to buy 10 inch bead lock rims for the fronts. What size should i use for the rears? I know everyone who races uses 8 inch but i see 8,9, and 10 available. I wont only be racing i also trail ride a lot.

well, let's start with what kind of racing. MX? Cross Country? Flattrack? Each type of racing has a different wheel size that suits it best.

I will be racing MX. Possibly a XC race here in there.

8 inch wheels and 18 inch tires are ideal for MX, but are the worst possible combination for XC. MX tires are made to be lightweight, but not much consideration goes into durability, and ground clearance will also be a problem off the MX track.

What I would do is go with 9 inch wheels and 20's. 9's/20's are a good compromise, but if you're real serious about the MX thing you might want to get a set of wheels/tires for trail riding and XC, and another set just for MX.
