king quad 300 tires and sites?
#1
First off, I'd like to say hi. I just picked up a 95 king quad 300. I've used my fathers for the past few summers whenever we go to our cabin in the NH mountains. It's a great machine for rocks/hills/trail blazing.
I know the stock tires suck and plan on getting new ones soon. Everything I've read says the 489/589 combo is the best for mud but I do alot of dirt trails, rocks, and also use the atv around the house for yard work. Would the 589's kill the lawn? Also, how do they perform on dirt trails and rocks? I was thinking mud lites might be a good choice if the 589's were too aggressive.
Also, I'm always looking for good web sites with old king quad content. Everything I search for comes up with links to the new king quad. Anyone have any good links to web sites or other forums that have good king quad 300 links.
Oh yeah, does anyone know where to get a factory owners manual? Dealer maybe?
Thanks and nice to meet everyone!!

Keep in mind that the KQ 300 has 1" larger tires on the rear than the front. I know some people are running the same size on the front and back, but the way the bike is geared there will be some slipage when in 4wd.
I ran 489's on my KQ 300 and was pretty happy with them. They were a good all around trail/mud/rock tire.

I've got the mudlites on mine, i stayed with the stock size to prevent any damage to the 4wd. Great tires, unbelievable in the snow. The bias plys can be found for much cheaper than the radial.
