Default restoring 86 lt250r,is this part necessary?

The little metal curved reed stopper, from it looks like it keeps the reeds from opening to far,i cant find this part anywhere. It costs like 70 bucks from suzuki new. Anybody know if this part is absolutely necessary or where i can find one? I have the reed cage and reeds but the little reed stopper is missing!
