Im selling my 2000 scrambler 500 and looking to get something faster and more nimble. My price range is from 3-4k. I have been looking at 01-04` raptors, an 04` kfx 400, and two 03 polaris predators. I want something fast, comfortable (I'm 6'), and very reliable, I'm buying used, i want this thing to last. I havent read to much about the predators or the kfx's. I leaning more towards raptors because of their power. Let me know what you think. I just dont want any problems down the road, im a pretty aggressive trail rider.

 

Out of those quads you're looking at stay away from 01/02 raptors, 03/04 kfx,z (03/04/05 dvx), 03 predators

If you want to add $800 to your range, then you can go here I live in NH too, and that's where I got my quad last year. They are a little cheaper now. They have the z's advertised for $4799, although you got to add the standard $200 dealer fee to that.

 

Thats everything i listed. There is got to be something out of all those that is decent. Whats wrong with the predators?

 

Just those years I mentioned. The 03 predators had transmission problems, like the 01 raptors. I believe some of the 02 raptors had the same problems, or was it something else?? The 03/04 z,kfx,dvx had the frame problems. This was fixed for the 05 model year along with better suspension with rezis, added a clutch disc, bigger carb with tps, different cams. The dvx was a year behind for the upgrades. The 05/06 z also has 6.6 more HP than the 03/04

 

I'm also looking at an 04' raptor.

Cheap, reliable, and quick (not the fastest but fairly quick) = 400ex.

99-06' 400ex's are pretty close to the same thing besides the 05-06' having reverse. They are very reliable and handle well.

You could find a VERY nice used one for 3k.
