Prarie 400 - Primary Clutch Face
#1
When inspecting my primary clutch, I noticed the clutch face where the belt rides is not smooth like my snowmobiles are. It has a wavy look, almost like it is supposed to have grooves for shifting, if that makes sense. Furthermore, when riding, it almost seems to shift as the belt rides up the clutch and "drops" into the higher groove.
I can't imagine the belt has worn these grooves into the clutch? Does anyone know if this is normal?

Actually what you describe is wear from the belt. I have the same thing on my 650.
i have never had this happen on my sled (even my race sled). Sleds are not subject to the dust & crap that the atv clutches are though.
