#1
hey guys,
I'm pretty sure i found a good deal here.....tell me if it is or not.
It is a 1987 250x rebuilt motor , runs perfect,
BRAND NEW- 300ex frame, full dg exhaust, rental bars, magura twist throttle, douglas mitchel aluminum rims, seat, tether kill switch, twin air filter,300ex coil,300ex air filters,300ex gas tank, hstu stock 22x7x10 fronts, and ITP holeshots 22x11x9 rear, All brand new brakes and calibers, Full skid plate. ALSO NEW from a Suzuki Quad racer is lower arms, brakes, spindals, hubs, rims, and shocks, brand new maier blue race plastics, and finally , swing arm is lengthend.
STUFF THAT WORKS- 5speed new clutch with reverse, motor runs perfect
Heres the bad stuff- rear shock is blown, the left front inner tie rod end has alot of play, and the left swing arm bearing is worn
How much would that be to fix?
I can probally get it for $800-$900 and if you think this is a good deal i want to jump on it because twice before this i waited too long and didn't get a good deal on a 250R and a Warrior.
I weigh 130lbs do you think this quad will feel peppy? I forgot to add it has low tooth new front sprocket for better low end.
I have pictures if you guys want to see them.

Doesn't sound like too bad of a deal. Figure about $100 for a used shock on ebay, $30 for a tie rod end, and $50 for a pivot works swingarm kit if you're going to do the work yourself.

sure it sounds like a good deal.
And yes it will be peppy, dont think your going to run down and 450's though

hey recon, im still kind of mad i didn't the warrior but guess is wasn't meant to be......
Anyway,
If i did it myself I think the shock would be easy to do right? How hard is the swingarm bearings and tie rod to do?
Heres the pictures.....

Ugh, ugly little bugger, aint it? I'm not a fan of the jellybean styling or baby blue, but it looks like it's in good shape though.
Replacing the tie rod end is easy as pie. Replacing the shock shouldn't be a problem as long as you have an extra set of hands. Replacing the swingarm bearings is a more in-depth project, but most people can do it with a good set of tools, a repair manual, and an extra set of hands.

I want to bring you 2 points. You said it is a 300ex frame. Why do you think that? It should have a sticker on the left front corner, by the upper shock mount saying what it is. I question the frame because it is a 250x stock bumper on it. The 300ex bumper is a little bit different.
Next why does it say 300ex seat? The 300ex never had a blue seat. It is a 250x seat cover.
Neither one of these are reasons NOT to buy something like this, but I would hate to hear you get hosed. If someone is hyping their quad saying it is newer this and newer that, but infact its not, you may not want to buy it.
I would say give it a good test ride, and if it feels solid, offer $750. Tell the seller you would have paid $900, but need the buck fifty, to buy a tierod end and bearings.

haha yea it is pretty ugly, but i just care that it runs.
About the frame.........He said the original frame was bent so he replaced it with a 300ex frame and then transferred the 250x bumpers to the 300ex frame(thats why the bumpers are alittle bent).....is this possible?
Sorry i meant seat cover
Yea , I'll give it a good ride.
Also, i hate baby blue but i care more about the mechanics......how much is it to get it repainted?
EDIT:
If i don't buy this , i have one other option
Heres a 300ex thats right near me.......
Take a look

You shouldn't paint quad fenders, the paint doesn't last. If you want a different color your best option will be to sell those and get a set of new ones from either honda if you like jellybean styling. I think i've seen aftermarket fenders for the 250x/300ex that look more like 250r aftermarket fenders.

No, i really don't like jellybean styling at all........But i could live with it, i just can't stand baby blue.
If i get it I'll probally switch to plastics and color that i like.
Did you look at the 300ex link?

It looks fine. It depends on how much it sells for though, because the 87 with it's mods will perform better, and you know what it needs/what's been replaced already.
