New Grizz questions/help
#1
Hello all, I have a couple questions about my new 06 Grizzly. Well I took her out for her first ride this weekend and I noticed a couple of things that concerned me. First off, on flat pavement, the bike pulls to the left. Second, I put on 30 miles during my Break In and I was on my last block of fuel. And third-and most disturbing, at about 40 miles and 10 hours I went to start the bike and lost all electrical. All gauges went out, I pull started and she started right up. I drove around for about a ½ hour and turned of the bike off, tried to restart- same thing- no juice. I have only used my winch once (while the bike was running, just to see if it worked) and had not used the headlights wile the bike was off. Fourth, when i stop to turn of the 4wd it Doesn’t always turn off, or at least the light doesn’t turn off. It could take a second or a minute, usually within 30 feet of driving the light would turn off. Is this normal? Also, I seemed to have pretty good low end but never really got on it, break in and all, Am I to be more impressed or disappointed once I get past my 20 hours. Please all help me out.

I think once you get used to your bike and learn about it then you'll enjoy it much more.
A note about break in, I have seen and read much about proper break in....basically the motto is the same. Ride it at all RPM but don't hold it at a single RPM for very long. Vary the throttle at all RPM. There is evidence out there that riding at 50% throttle and under during breakin causes the rings to not seat properly and will cause a dirty carbon built cylinder. Sport bikers reccommends to break in streetbike engines on the race track.

I work the handle bars right and left until the 4x4 is disengaged. If you do this it will go out much quicker. Also I agree with the other dude about the fuel blocks. But these things do drink fuel like crazy compared to a small atv.

one more quick question, where is the best place on-line to look for grizzly accessories, ( tires, racks, armor, ect) ?

there is a guy out of main who's name is mike. He useually has the best prices. you can call and ask for mike get their number form dicksatv.com. Also another site is atvtires.com (I got my skids from there) I would call for prices though because they will match or beat any site. This is what I did and got the full ricochet set for $305 to my door.
there is a guy who sells tires and rims on e-bay but I think his web site is 4atvtires.com if you call him or e-mail him the prices are way better as itp will not let him post prices any lower than they set. But he does sell them for less. hold on I will get you his e-mail address......GLAD YOU LIKE THE TIRES AND RIMS. MY WEB SITE IS WWW.ATVTIRESPLUS.COM, His name is dale and his e-mail address is.....neathery4@msn.com. He is very promt.
OH and I was wrong about the site for the skid plates it's this one atvoutfitters.net.....We will sell them for $305.00 shipped.
Thanks,
Matthew
You can ask for Matthew if you want but I just took the first guy that answerd the phone.
Other than that I do a search for whatever part I'm looking for get the lowest price and then Call mike and he useually will beat it to your door. That's where I have bought everything else.
for instance I took the price out of the rockymountainatv.com cataloge because they were cheeper than their online-prices called mike and he beat their catalog price. (the two main places I price check are rockymountainatv.com and denniskirk.com)

oh and as far as the losing your instruments.....mine did that after the winch install as well. I installed it myself but that wasn't the problem. It turned out to be a defective battery that wouldn't hold a charge, which was then replaced by yamaha. Haven't had a problem since. However if you plan to plow with it and there is a lot of up and down (such as a short driveway) I recomend getting a battery tender, they are only about 20-30 bucks and it works like a charm. I never have a problem when useing it in the summer pulling people out, but in the winter plowing sometimes it would not start the next day, so I went with a tender. (It also desulfates)
The dealer said if you use the winch a lot you need about 2-3hrs of trail riding to fully re-charge your battery so 1/2 hr probably wasn't enough. (and feel lucky you can pull start that beast, the '05's it's almost imposible)
I would get on it right now just not for a long time, you need to do that to break it in. you should hit around 66-69mph on pavement but only around 58-60 on dirt trail.
I don't know if this is true because I haven't tested it with a meeter but a few different people have told me that for some stupid reason the Grizz battery charges better with the headlights on while ridding on the trail. Something to do with the way it's wired. I have tried it with the lights on but not meetering it and I haven't had a problem since.
Also depends on what kind of winch some have way more draw than others. But to me sounds like a battery problem If it's still under waranty I would make them test it just to be sure.
hope this helped.

yeah man bout that power problem, i just bought a 05 grizz and had the same thing happen to me . you might want to take it to the dealer while its under warranty cuz i forget the name of the part , so lets just call it an alternator went on mine and its like a 400 dollar part (Canadian). But other than that i love my grizz.
