Default 2000 DS650 problems?

What are the most common issues? Caster, steering effort, engine tranny issues, and such. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think the only issues that I know of are the shift forks bending on some machines. Bad fans. Heck thats all I can think of right now.

How's tricks DSNut? Yeah, i guess you could call me that. I'm the one Randall kinda complained for me to NOT give away so much info. Lol. But, business is good. Too much really, i can't keep up. I just finished a set of AFR Magnums for a guy, these babies should rock. 502ci pump gas motor. I love big motors. As for the DS heads, i've baseline flowtested them (3 seperate heads) to get my average's, and i'm about 50% complete on my first adjustments of the head. But that's all. Slow going, i need a vacation. I can't wait till' i finish them. Should be interesting though.

Are you looking at making race heads for the DS? Have you figured out what size valves will work best with your porting?

I look forward to hearing more from you on this

Well, i'm really focused on maximizing the stock valve/throat % right now. I think most of my business will come from this area, cause you'll get the most bang for your buck with this set up. Most, people want to keep the stock CC's and just stick to top-end stuff, and to shell out 2k-3k on a ported head is asking alot for most people, so i'm trying to see what i can get out this arrangement first. Not to say that these high end modifications aren't worth the money. Because they are, just not for everyone. I mean, i have a customers $22,000 stroker LT1 project here. Just depends on the customer. I'd like to have 3 stages of heads to offer. We'll see. But, yes, i'm really anxious to see what the HPR (race) head does on our bench and try to squeeze the DS head a little further. I'll probably stick with hand welding instead of filler/epoxy, just because thats what we do. But, i'll really try to focus on keeping the port volume to CC's ratio under control. Small ports that move big air, that's the trick. And people do not read things i have not said here, i'm not saying anything negative about HPR's port design. I'm merely hinting to how we approach trying to improve on a really solid design. It's not easy.
