I just picked up a used 800 XT. I got a great deal on it but it is missing a few items (like the owner's manual). It did come with the Warn winch remote, but my question is where the hell does the remote plug into??? I have traced the wires from the winch to the rocker switch on the bars, but I cannot find any place to plug the winch remote into. Can someone help me out??

 

The '06 wasn't supposed to have the remote...it was the '07's...are you sure we are talking about the right year. Anyway, I would be on the phone to the dealer on this one.

 

Yup, I'm sure I've got an '06, and I've got the remote in hand too. I already checked with the dealer and their answer was "I don't know." Pretty surprising as they are a large volume dealer, but who knows. Their service dept. also didn't know how to switch my odometer over from km to miles, so I may have to look elsewhere for some answers.

 

Wow...hard to believe that a dealer is so clueless. I would contact warn directly and ask them. This is no disrespect to your dealer but, I would find someone else to work on your machine, even if you have to drive. Peace of mind is worth the extra gas. I.M.O.

 

Maybe the previous owner added the remote, as it did not come with the '06 800. (I have a new one in my garage and no remote)

You will probably have to install a connection.

 

no it shouldnt have the place to plug it in but i bet they will have it in their catalog for accessories in 07 but if your's does it would be in the front just left of the computer hookup in the side of the box there

 

I have an 07 and the winch connection is in the front storage compartment. Left side if your facing the front of the bike.

 

I have the 06. Bought a remote. The plug in comes with the remote. I haven't installed it. Call Warn. Good OR company. They will help.
