If you have a winch on the front of your quad how does it mount.To the bumper?I am going to put a warn winch on my 400l but I need to know how it mounts.

 

I had a winch on both my old 425 Magnum and my 400Sportsman and what I did was weld 2 pieces of 1/4 in plate at a 90 degree angle,gusset the sides,drill holes to mount the winch and run the wires.The 425 I drilled and bolted it to the front bumper and it was fine.On the 400 I welded the mount to the bumper gusseting it on the bottom.

 

Does the winch blocking the airflow affect the cooling.Does it get hot easier?And when you say sportsman 400 do you mean the 96 Sportsman 4x4 with the speedometer protector,rack extender.ect? Oh,and where generaly is the in/out button for the winches on these.On my arctic cat it was under the start button,is it the same for Polaris or are they somewhere else?

 

On the 96 400 SP I mounted the switch on the rack (had a SuperWinch on that one)the 96 425 had a Warn with the switch mounted on the handle bar clamp.
Both winches were mounted high on the bumper no blocking the radiator plus keeping the winch out of the mud and water..
