Roller weights help
#1
Tried a search on what roller weights do in this site and no luck. I have a set ranging from 3grams to 8 grams. I was told a good set up for me would be a total of 12-13 grams. I have a 54mm kit with a 120 jet. We ride in the sand and dirt so right now am running with 2000 springs. The motor winds than grabs but nothing like stock to where it almost pop wheelies. Should I go back to stock springs or will changing the roller weights help? I opened up the CVT and have no clue where these weights go. Please help.
Thanks!!

Do you also have an aftermarket pipe and larger carb? around 27 total grams is perfect for most modified mini's (the clutch holds 6 weights). I currently have 4 gram weights in and am going to try all 4.5 gram weights this weekend. The weights go inside of the drive or front clutch pulley (variator). You need to remove the cvt cover, and the nut holding the front pulley on, then remove the front clutch and the weights go into one half of the pulley behind the plate. I've been told another good set up is to vary or stagger the weights... example: stagger the weights... pair up a 6 gram with a 3 or 4 gram weight in all thre paired positions. be sure to put them all in the same order... or it will be out of balance.

Dano,
Thanks for the help and yes I have a custom pipe but was told that the carb on this alpha sports (Predator look alike 90cc) was ok for now unless I really wanted more top end. I will try different weights to see what works. Does your set up build rpm than grab?

With stock porting on a 90 I'd stick to about 30 to 35 grams. your stock carb will give you nothing but problems if you have a pipe. It needs replaced if you wanna run a pipe and clutching to turn some rpms.
