Default Final Tire Question Before buying

I have talked to some of you on here, but I wanted to put this out there. I need ground clearance on my Brute 650 SRA. I need clearance to hang with my families stable of Arctic Cats in the mud around my riding area. I figured the quickest way to gain is to go with 27's. My question I wanted to put out there is this:

I know I have plenty of power to roll with 27's on my Brute, but will such a tire size affect the suspension geometry, and more importantly, will it put premature wear on critical drivetrain components. I am not made of money, so the health of the quad comes first before mounting huge tires. I have been checking out the Swamplites and the Mudlites.

thanks guys, I appreciate all of your help on this forum.

Default Final Tire Question Before buying

Hey Bubba, I got the 26" tires for the fact i didnt want to risk burning the belt, and didnt want to sacrifice power. Now, i would have gotten the 27" swamplites. But im happy with them, and also, from stock to the 26" swamplites, i gained almost another inch of ground clearance, so you would notice the slight lift. I just didnt need a reason for something to go wrong for a tire that was an inch bigger!!

There is always a risk. I know they say that your factory clutch system is good for 26s but when you start going with 27s or larger they suggest you do some work. Personally I do not htink the 1/2 inch more of GC is worth it, but you have to decide that.

Default Final Tire Question Before buying

I put on the 26" swamplites and gained almost 3" from stock. I put them on stock rims, and have a venom winch that I had to modify the mount to gain enough clearence when turning full to the right. Only have one ride on them, but am impressed so far.

Default Final Tire Question Before buying

If clearance is what you want get the 27's. I've had them on my prairie for 900 miles with no trouble. Use low when you have to and keep the revs up. Should be no problem with the v-twin.
The fact is most tires run an inch small, so that is why I got 27's, and was thinking about 28's. It depends on your riding style also.

As for my BF 750, it has plenty of clearance already, so I plan on 26's to keep it sporty feeling and gain a little height and width.

I have to say too, as far as mud goes, clearance doesn't matter as much as good 27 or 28" tires if the machine can pull them.
