I just bought an 06 450R and I installed the hrc kit and now my quad wont idle.. It will start and run fairly well with the choke on.. But as soon as I take the choke off it wont idle and it starts to pop. I followed the directions to a T. I just want to get it running right so I can finally ride my brand new quad.. Please help!!!!!!

 

Sounds lean,you did change the jet right? Carb might have some debris or something in it,but when you run good with the choke on and bad with it off 99% of the time thats a lean condition ,wheter its to small of a jet or a plug(dirty)

also i would double check the timing to make sure you didnt go 1 tooth off

 

I figured out.. I actually got some dirt in there some how... It was running lean. Are these motors really noisy.. Mine has a knock type noise at idle and it doesnt seem good. Dont know if it is normal or not??? called the place I got it from and they said that those motors are noisy.

 

yes they are noisy motors cause the uni cam, they all make that noise, how do you like it with the hrc kit?

Yea there noise. That's the sign of a High performance motor. They dont like to run low RPM's. Did you turn up the idle adjusting **** thats on the right side just under the gas tank? If not give it a twist and up the RPM's. It will make it start easier too. Remember dont give it no gas while starting.

 

Does your guy's quad make a loud clunk noise when it starts to fire then stops? i have to give mine a little gas after i try and start it for a while. usually i starts right up with the choke on, even if it is 90 degrees out.

 

Sounds like you need to turn up your idle screw or **** too. I have found that if you just pump the throttle once first it primes it just about right. That loud clunck is what you need to avoid.

 

yea that was in the honda bulliton, do not give it any gas when you start it up, the starter clutches are tending to go on them, ive already had my replaced, Warranty. if it doesnt fire right up even with the choke on, dont give it gas, blip the throttle and then crank it. camo is right avoid the loud clunk that is your starter clutch.

just out of curiosity how long did it take for the starter clutch to go out? i just picked up my trx 450 and this is the first quad that i have ever owned. i have always been on bikes.

and if anybody knows, how much power did the hrc kit give you from stock?
