Default Kodiak break-in period

Should towing be avoided during the break-in period on a new machine? I was told in the past to break-in the motor by just use it as use normally would. I'm asking because I have about 12hrs on my Kodiak and it seems to be a bit sluggish. I have been towing a small trailer with rubble in it from raking up and old stone driveway. Each load has bee no more that 500lbs. I have been able to run it a higher throttle speed a couple of times. The machine seems to get up to about 35mph in a 200ft run. Any thoughts?
