Default top speed for Kodiak 450

I have an '05 Kodiak 450. I was curious to know what is the top speed of the machine. I haven't had a chance to stretch it legs out yet. Also, how is the acceleration to get to the top end? Is it gradual or does it hit the top speed fairly quickly. Does having it in 4WD slow it down? So far I've had it up to 35mph and it feels like the powerband flattens out from 20mph to 35mph.

thanks

I've been at 55mph on mine. Not the fastest machine but as fast as I need it to be.

I used to have an 06 kodiak, and ya, about 53-55 mph was the top speed, once you hit 40, it had to work pretty hard to hit top speed, and it will be slower in 4wd

Default top speed for Kodiak 450

My buddy has an 05 kodiak 450. He tips the scales about 140lbs. We ran it on the highway the other day, he leaned down behind the handlebars and got it to 57mph. My 06 grizzly 660 hit 68mph with me leaning down, and it's all stock, however, when I sit up it would only do 65mph. Leaning down makes a big difference. My 05 sp500 will do 58mph leaning down, with some added accessories which added aout 50lbs of weight. My 02 grizzly would do 64, but it has 26" dirt devils.

Thanks for the figures, I think it makes for a good comparison while I'm breaking in the new machine.
