How did you check for a weak spark? 9 times out of 10, either you have fire or you don't. If it is a weak spark issue, it could be anything from a ground issue with the coil, to the trigger pulse generator not sending enough voltage to the coil, bad end cap, bad coil itself, or an issue with a ground at some other point. If you don't have a way of testing fire, I hate to say this but do it the old fashon way. Grab hold of that thing and if you can stand it, I would go farther into the spark being weak. If it shocks the pure crap out of you, then I'd be looking at timing or crank seals, or even compression. I know it sounds dumb, but you won't be questioning how strong the spark is. Not very mechanical to say but if you don't have the book in front of you to check, then its hard to just guess. Is it a 300 or 400? I have some books on them both. Let me know and i'll give you the test procedures for checking the tpg, coil and cap resistance.

so I assume you are holding spark lead while turning over engine with electric starter - correct?
if so the battery will be down at say 6 to 8 volts only so would not expect a really good spark until engine fires [when it will go up to about 14 volts]
is the problem that engine wont start at all? - and you are assuming it is the spark or have you somehow measured the spark and confirmed it is the problem?
