The transmission is a chain case like a snowmobile. So you have to use chain case lubricant, and gear oil in the front differential. It depends on what brands of oil you want use. I would either the Polaris oil or Amsoil . JMO. If you use Amsoil they have a Chaincase specific oil, and you can use 75w-90. If you choose Polaris oil they should have what you need on the shelf. It will say chaincase , and differential lube on it. If you want to use some other brands I really don't know anything about them

Ignore the above poster or you will have serious problems.

If you use gear oil in the front diff of a newer Polaris it will ruin it.

Also if you use 75w90 in the chaincase it will wear out the chain.

Use ONLY the Polaris lube in the front diff.

In the trans you can either use the Polaris lube or a good synthetic motor oil.

Default Help with fluid types 500HO/ATP

The new manuals 2005-2006 do not say what types of fluid is needed. I had a 1997 425cc Polaris that stated what alternate oils could be used. That Polaris motor was a work horse. I submerged it twice in the swamp, drained the fluids and it always ran great.

Please help! I need what type of front diff. fluid (shaft drive) your 2000+ Polaris manual states (SAE/weight). I also used syn. motor oil in my 1997 425 transmission or the same oil used in the engine, per the 1997 manual. Does your 2000 or above manual also say to use motor oil such as 0W40 oil in the transmission? Thanks in advance from any of you tech guys. JIMMMMMText
