I INSTALLED A IMS 440 KIT ABOUT 9 MONTHS AGO. LOVE THE KIT, BUT AFTER A FEW WEEKS OF RIDING,IT BEGAN TO SMOKE ON START UP. THE QUAD DOES NOT USE ANY OIL AND DOES NOT SMOKE WHEN RIDING,ONLY ON START UP. I REPLACED THE VALVE STEM SEALS AND IT SEAMED TO CLEAR THE PROBLEM UP UNTIL NOW,IT STARTED AGAIN. WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM BECAUSE SOMEONE TOLD ME THAT ALL BIG BORE MOTORS EVENTUALLY DO THIS. IS THIS TRUE?

Check you valve guides... Are you sure it isn't condensation? It's that time of year.

most likly the valve seals are gone again thats usually the cause of smoky start ups but if they are gone again so soon it means your valve guides are worn out too.

My 440 has been in my bike for nearly two years and has never smoked at start up or any other time. I agree with the previous posts.

have you recently oiled your filter? is it sealing correctly?-doesn't take much dirt to score cylinder and excessive filter oil will be sucked in and burned.
