Quadrunner HELP!!!!
#1
Hi Guys,
I'm new to your forum, but have been reading it for a while now. My brother passed away 3 years ago , and he had a Suzuki Quadrunner. It has not been touched for 3 years. It has been sitting in my parents backyard under a cover. It seems to be in decent shape. The only problem is we do not know what year it is, or what size engine it has. We think it is a '94
or '95. The badging says Quadrunner. If anyone knows anything about these year models please respond. It is 4wd has a low and a super low locking diff and it has an independant rear suspension. It is a 5 speed. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi paul,
Sorry for the poorly written question. I was in a hurry when I wrote. The thing won't start, I need to buy a new plug, but that is not why it will not start. It does not seem to be getting fuel. I turned over the engine with the choke open for about ten seconds at a time, for a total of about 15 times; took out the plug and it was bone dry. I took off the top piece of the carb ( it looks like a bowl cut in half) ) it seems no fuel is getting to the carb. I have a fuel switch on the side of the motor. It says on reserve and prime. I put it on prime still nothing. I'm not sure what else to check.
P.S. I put a little fuel directly into the sparkplug hole and it started right up and ran for maybe 2-3 seconds.

I will have to look at mine to see what switch says at bottom of tank,Ibelieve mine has 3 different settings,i just leave mine on all the time,i will try to get to my shop this eve or tom. eve at the latest, seems to me that you should be able to see if gas is getting to the switch by removing one of the hoses and from there to carb..sounds like switch is off to me but i,ll check. If gas was getting to the plug even if plug was bad it should still be wet.Paul

Hi guys,
I just had trouble with my Quadrunner as well. I've become well acquainted with the fuel pet **** and it's operation.
It uses engine vacuum to open the fuel flow in the "on" and "res" settings. In the "prime" position, it will allow fuel to run at all times, the carb float will stop the flow once the bowl has filled.
On my machine, an LT-F500F
The engine vacuum is sourced from the front side of the carb, and connects via a rubber hose to the rearward (of the quad) fitting. When the engine starts cranking, vacuum pulls the valve open, and fuel will flow from the frontward fitting to the carb.
If you're not getting any fuel at all, even in prime, try taking the fuel valve assembly out of the tank, should only be two screws holding it in. Something must be plugging it up. If fuel will run out of the tank, when valve is pulled out, then there must be blockage in the valve, or the little filters on the end of the fuel pickup. Do not try to disassemble it to fix, as it's non servicable. Perhaps, some time soaking in carb cleaner might do the trick, but probably easier to get a new one. If you are sure it's a dud, then by all means, take it apart and see how it works and where the blockage is.
If the bike hasn't run for years, there is probably some thick deposits of old gas "gunk" in the valve.
BTW, from your description of low and ultra low range, plus the locking diff and IRS, the quad sounds like the "King Quad", 300 cc's. There should be a VIN placard on the frame near the back that would have the year on it. At the least, a dealer would be able to decipher the VIN and tell you what year it is.

Hey Guys, thanks for the info!! I got it running after I drained all the old fuel out of the tank and lines. Once it cranked it ran rough for about 3 minutes and has ran great ever since. These little quads are pretty tough. I found the owners manual in some of my brothers things. It is a 97 QUADRUNNER 250 5 speed with low superlow and a locking diff. Pretty unstoppable combination. The super low and locking diff really gets it through the tuff stuff that would stop most other 250's or 300 and 400's. Thanks for your help and happy riding.
