Well, i finally did it . I burnt my clutch up yesterday, just popped a wheelie and CLANG there it went. I can still ride it but in first a second when i get on it hard it has this awful clunking sound sound. So my question is who sells the best aftermarket clutch for a 300ex??Info and prices would be appreciated. Preferably a heavy duty one so it will last longer.

If you hear an awfull clunking sound you probably have more problems than just your clutch...

You might want to take a look at your sprockets, and check your chain adjustment... just a thought.

you think it could be my chain slipping instead of my clutch?

Good point 400EX,sometimes the bearing on the sprocket side will blow out allowing the sprocket to move enoough to make the chain slip and cause an awful grinding noise like you described.Back to your clutch question,I've had exceptional luck with Barnett Dirt Digger clutches in my CR's and my 250R.They are tougher than stock plates but the clutch pulls a little harder because of the longer, stiffer spring.

if you hear an "awful clunking sound" then I would think that something else is going... Take a close look at the teeth on the countershaft sprocket to make sure they aren't rounded off... check the chain tension... as the other fellow suggested check your rear axle bearings...

loud clunking noises typically don't accompany a slipping clutch. Is it slipping (motor revving with no increase in speed) or are you getting a 'jerking' feeling when you hear the noise?

whatever you do, find out what the problem is before you break something! It would be a shame to break an expen$ive engine case because the chain came off...

ok how can i check to tell if it my sprocket bearing?? what does it sound like when your clutch is out also? the only time i hear the noise is when i get on it hard ...as in popping the clutch for a wheelie or running through the gears while going fast...only in first or second

Glad it turned out to be something simple (and cheap to fix)

It broke off all your teeth?! Wow, just out of pure curiousity, what brand of sprocket were you using. My personal experiance with sidewinder isnt a good one and I was wondering if there is another brand to watch for. Thanks
