How to mount stock air tube without the air box
#1
to forum,
Ive removed my stock airbox for weight issue's and was wondering how to mount the stock air tube to the frame.
Im thinking of trying zip-tyes but I dont think it will work well, & I dont want to run a direct mount air filter- I would rather run the tube if possible, I was currently using 2.25 inch pvc tubing but was not impressed, any suggestions would also be helpful, Thanks

I took a piece of 1/8 inch alluminum measured it all out for how wide it could be and how long it could be...cut out a oval hole for the rubber boot to fit snug into like it did the airbox then bent the top of the alluminum at 90 degrees and drilled two holes to mount it to the frame....it holds my filter and my crankcase filter vent....very nice setup i could get pics if you want but im pretty sure another member on here has done the same setup as i have and has pics on his page....a big zip tie does work but its not a solution forever.

I don't know if this will work for the DS but I do know that the DS and the Predator have the same carb and alot of Predator guys have use a Civic intake to come off of thier carb and hook thier filter to. I don't see why it won't work on the DS You can get the civic intakes off of Ebay for really cheap. Yes it is for the Honda Civic car, it comes with a boot for the carb end and some even come with a filter. You can always try it you won't be out to much money if you get one off of ebay and it doesn't work but it might.

Thanks for all reply's, I will probably go with 1/8" aluminum plate drilled and mounted to the frame. Really dont want to spend more $$$ on this carb. project. Thanks again for all replys

I use criss crossed zip ties... its worked great for the last two seasons. I replace them every couple months. I was going to fab something up but the zip ties were too easy, while totally functional, light weight, strong, and easily replaceable. No brainer if you ask me. Good Luck!
