Default sportsman- top end rebuild

I have a 2000 sportsman 500 that I was mudding with the other weekend. It killed on me for a second while it was under water adn I fired it up right away and it ran fine. Shortly afterward it was burning oil bad and blowing blue smoke.

I got it home and changed the oil and it looked fine. I also checked the compression and it was at 75 psi, same as the other 4 wheeler I have. So I think the next step is to take off the head and take a look.

1)Can I get the head off by removing the gas tank and working through their?
2) any suggestions on where to look for help on this project? I have done 2 strokes before , but never 4 strokes
30Can I just mark the timing chain and reinstall it the same way?

Default sportsman- top end rebuild

I removed the plastics and gas tank last night. Today I will get into the motor. The only thing I'm worried about is the timeing on the top end. I think I can just mark the chain and sproket and I should be fine. Is that right?
