Default LT80 wires get hot

i am troubleshooting a '95 Suzuki LT80. The starter is not spinning properly. It barley spins and acts like the battery is dead. The battery is fully charged and has a reading of 13.2 v ( 11-12 v under a load). I try to start it but the relay just clicks. I bypass the relay by touching both wires but is seems to heat up the wires real quick. It does turn over a few times and then stops. I have to disconnect the wires cause they get real hot. I pulled the spark plug out and try to crank it and it cranks easily but dies quick. Anyone have a clue to what is happening?

I think being that its 11 years old you may need to replace the starter. I installed a pull start on ours, this helps trouble shoot and its well worth the $ 90.00 a dealership charges for them.

120-130.
Less indicates some wear but can get by.

Well I took the started off yesterday and took it to a local Suzuki dealer. They bench tested the starter and told me that the starter was bad. It drags and pulls too much current. They say the starter is probably grounding out inside. I also found out that your no suppose to jump start it from a car with the motor running. They say that the car, while running, will send too much current to the ATV and this might have cause the death of the starter. I am looking for a replacement now. Thanks for the help.
