My neighbor is selling her 97 wolverine due to money troubles. She wants 500 for it. It has a few problems right now with the main one being that the shifter is broke and she has vice grips on it. It has a shifter and a linkage that looks like it goes to the shaft to shift it. She still has the shifter and all that it just broke on a small piece that connects to the shaft. Does anyone know how expensive that is? Also the spark plug was old so I changed it and it idles good without the choke on. But when you go down the road it just wont go fast no matter what speed so I think the carb might be dirt. I am gonna pull it apart to see.

 

500 DOLLARS FOR A 97 WOLVERINE wish i could find one for that price even with the few problems you spoke of thats a steal you better yank it up as for the shifter i had a 96 timber wolf an had the shifter break on it once all was said and done it was around 300 bucks to fix even if you spen 800 on it to fix i up the you still have a steal that would only be 1,300 bucks id say get it i would !!!!

 

I have been reading up on the wolverine and think my problem might be the E-brake rev limiter. It feels kinda like something is keeping it from going any higher in RPMs even though it is running ok. I might try to disconnect the wires because the E-brake just pulls all the way in and has no tension. I hope I can just unplug it.

 

You should be able to unplug it. The previous owner did that to my machine. I just wrapped up the connection on the harness with a little plastic to keep the gunk out.

Are the vice grips attaches to what's left of the stocker shifter? If the stock linkage is there that goes to the shift shaft on the engine, you should be set. I can't see a shifter running you more than $25 from the dealer.

 

No glenn the shift linkage is what is gone. I still have the shifter but not the linkage.

 

Hopefully, It's an easy fix.

 

I replaced the linkage rod on mine for $2. If the you need more than that you should not be out much $ as long as the shift shaft that goes into the trans. is ok not bent or stripped. Keep us posted.
