2004 Sportsman 500 HO all wheel drive?
#1
Got a question on the 2004 Sportsman HO All Wheel Drive. Being all wheel drive, does this mean that all four wheels truly turn like a diferential locker has been installed or is it limited slip like a lot of the 4x4? On my Vinson I had to add the locker after realizing 4x4 didn't mean true four wheel drive so I was curious if the 2004 Sportsman was already this way.

When in all wheel drive you are in true awd. Your front wheels do not get power until your rear wheels start to slip. Once the rear wheels start to spin your front engages and is true AWD. Its all locked up!

You are correct. The only 4x4 ATV Polaris has ever made that wasn't a true 4wd was the Magnum RMK which had a ViscoLok front end which took a few revolutions to fully engage all 4 wheels.
