No no, if you want a more speed, put a bigger front sprocket on, and a smaller rear on. Like i dont know about your quad, but on my 400ex, it stock is 15/38 (15 on front, 38 on rear) I could gain about 10 mph by making it a 16/35, however, i would not have (or almost not have) any low end. Hope i helped

That would work except the recon is shaft drive. Add some mods to the motor. Then get some bigger rear tires that should increase your speed.

recon's are shaft drive arn't they??? I'd say bigger tires not smaller, they will gear it up. My 453 is pullin 82 now with 16/34 gears but low end was sacrificed, it was good for a couple road races and now its back to 14/38, If you just want to see how fast you can go once then do the following, add 116 octane race fuel and remove air box lid, jet accordingly, air your tires to 30 PSI, take off any addidtional weight, racks, hitch, muffler(lol), remove plastics for better areodynamics and rest ur helmet on the tank to catch less wind, i bet you'd gain 5-10 mph, or you could buy my machine for $5500 and double ur speed!!!
