If the Sportsman 500 EFI has an electric fuel pump what is the point of the recoil? If the battery is dead what will power the fuel pump to get that inital pressure to get the engine running. I'm just curious more then anything.

There needs to be some voltage for the electronics to work. Someone on here one time said, something like 9.6 vdc. That will not crank an engine, but it will power the electronic stuff so you can pull it.

So really, If you have a stone dead battery it isn't starting without a boost.

the recoil WILL start your machine should the battery die. The battery is mainly there to turn the starter. Once the bike is running, everything runs off the power of the alternator (stater).

I THINK spyder6 is the one that mentioned 9 point something volts. He'll probably chime in here shortly and either correct me or give you the info he has. You could PM him if you want. He is good to deal with!
