Default '03 foreman top end rebuild ?

I got my 450 foreman a little damp and it now is smoking. I did the flush and drain several times and still no change.
I was planning to do a top end overhaul but was told by dealer mech. that it is a waste of time and cash. Does anyone have any info./ experience with this particular problem? The dealer said it would require a complete overhaul... ie top end overhaul, new valves, timing chain, oil cooler... to the tune of around $2000!!! Any help would be appreciated.

. Mine had 14000 kms on it got sunk smoke so bad you could not keep oil in it. Pulled head and jug honed jug .Jug looked good put rings and valve seals gaskets all for around a $100.00 TO $150.00 runs fine no smoke. I think your dealer is getting ready for early retirement

I haven't run compression check yet. How many hours of run time since the rebuild? The dealer is telling me 90 days max and I'll be right back in the fog.

C'mon, I can't believe that Slimjim and me are the only two Foreman 450 runners to have water troubles! All I'm askin' is if anyone has done a top end rebuild and if it lasted. I'm being told that water/dirt will hang up (hide) in the gear case and find its way to the cylinder and that no amount of flushing will get it all out. While I find it hard to believe, I've had more than one mechanic tell me this. They say it is a design flaw that affects the 450 Foreman and 350 Rancher.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
