I just brought home my new 2007 800 Outlander XT and I must say so far I love it. I have a 2006 Grizzly 660 and 2006 Honda Foreman/Rubicon 500 and this thing just walks around them without thinking twice. It does so well it just about scares me a bit. The takeoff from dead stop is just amazing, no hesitation ordelay or anything just pure power.

I have not rode it much yet nor have I had it's true power to the max as said brand new so doing a bit of leaning on it and breaking it in. But can tell that it is going to throw my head back when I get into it.

Cannot wait to get into a situation to use the winch, never had one before on any of my bikes so looking forward to using it. That is as long as it is in fun not in a desparate way...

I do have 1 or 2 questions on it someone might be able to help me with. Maybe normal, maybe because it's new and I am just not use to it. As it does not have a right side hand brake just the left and the foot brake I notice something when using the Left Hand brake. Not while driving but only when coming to a dead stop it makes a noise like gear clash or something the sort. Not a brake squeal or anything like that, more like gears changing or something. Does not do it when using the foot brake just the hand brake..
Have checked calipers and all seeable bolts/nuts just in case, all tight so assume it is something in the front gearbox slow down, probally a normal thing, just curious.

Not due for it yet of course but dealer says have to use BRP oil when changing and book says recommends a synthetic which is fine (use mobil 1 in all my vehicles) do I have to use BRP or is Mobil 1 ok for it as well??

Last question, fuel? Book says normal 89 oct if I remember. Have access to get racing fuel cheap recomend or not???

You will always get best performance from running the lowest octane fuel the engine(and usually the manufacturer) recommends. Race fuel will lighten your wallet, and I am not sure if the Can-Am efi could compensate if you got oxygenated fuel either. As for the dealer and his oil, I would expect them to say that. Pay close attention to the oil's rating/specs. You should be safe using most any motorcycle specific synthetic oil. Sorry, I have no clue about the noise you are hearing while stopping.

I agree, you don't have to use BRP oil, dealers will try to scare you into using it.

You're missing the right brake handle? You better take that thing back right away <G>. The Outlander has single lever hand brakes and a rear foot brake.

The noise you hear when braking is normal and will subside as it's used, do be forewarned that when you go through water and hit the brakes wet they make an AWFUL sound, nothing wrong just a nasty sound.

I couldn't find a Mobile 1 with the right SH, SJ, SG rating so I went with Shell Rotella T synthetic in the blue bottle.

I wouldn't waste your money on higher octane fuel, just run a good quality 87 octane(chevron, shell etc.....) High octane is ran in high compression engines like the DS650 or YFZ 450.

Just so you don't panic, the Outlanders make all kinds of sounds, I used to call my 330 R2D2.

Went riding yesterday around our place in the woods and creek where we normally go. Boy tell you now I found myself constantly reaching for that right brake handle. In fact 1 time just about lost it as instinct to go for the handle at last moment and not there, did a little 2 wheeling on the side to steer clear...

Read about the octane deal on different post after writting this one...

Going to have to look at the oil specs closer when it gets time to service.

The noise is already starting to get better. Your right on the numerous noises, hear things when not in gear and hear different things when in gear. I thought the Grizzly was full of little noises but this thing is about the same. Btu still LOVE IT...

Had a chance to get to use the auto locker yesterday in a mud hole that had a tree trunk in it. Wife went through 1st, got caught on the trunk, used diff lock and got out after a bit of back and forth rocking. I went through it and had 0 problem. Also used the winch to remove a tree blocking the path, man I love this thing....
