Default Water Wetter etc??

Anyone have any experience with using coolant additives to help your ATV's run cooler? I see a few different products available I'm curious what anyone else might be using and if you've noticed any difference? I guess with fall/winter coming shouldn't be a real problem but the summers here get very hot.

I use engine ice, I think it keeps it cooler.

I use 40 below made by Pro-Blend. This replaces the antifreeze. It works great for me.

What I do that has helped a lot, at least as much as engine ice, is the following.

Water transfers heat better than antifreeze, but pure water has a high freezing point and will cause corrosion. So the higher the antifreeze ratio the poorer the heat transfer. I use 1/3 antifreeze to 2/3 distilled water and add the Redline Water Wetter. This offers full protection from corrosion, and down to 0 degrees for freezing, it also hase a lower viscosity so your water pump will have a eaisier time as well.. Doing this instead of a stright 50/50 of antifreeze dropped my temps by 15 degrees while riding my DS. The only time my fan has come on since I did this was on the dyno.

If you need protection below 0 degrees, use a chart that shows the ratios to get to the freezing point you need.

Good info, it NEVER freezes so that's not an issue. Increasing my water ratio should help me run cooler??

I run straight distilled water and water wetter. . . no coolant. I don't have any freeze protection so, have to watch it when I go on trips, etc. It doesn't get cold enough around here to freeze where the bike is stored.

I don't have a temp gauge and my trips can have wide swings in ambiant air temperatures so, I really don't think I can say how much the coolant temps drop.

The heat transfer for straight water is MUCH better than for water / coolant mix so, I know I have better cooling. I will probably drain here in a couple weeks and fill with a mix as I see a few colder weather trips that could see and issue.
