Cylinder Head

Does anyone have data on the benefits of the small quench area in the DS's head?
Has anyone welded the combustion chamber to enhance the size of quench area and thus create more turbulence and better burn?

The head im running might have been. I have had a mechanic years ago tell me he tooled the combustion chamber for a better burn. When we recently installed my race head (same one) there was an area by the plugs that had been tampered with. I dont know if it was to clear the old 105.5mm or for the burn. The weird part was that bigdaddy CC'd the head and it was right on.
