Kodiak 450 excesive engine noise?
#1
I have a 2005 Kodiak 450 which, since new, seems very loud. The noise (or bark) from the engine seems really loud when accelerating hard or at speed. I first thought it was normal just specific to the brand. I have not really ridden any other ATV's until last week when I test drove another 450. It seemed much quieter. On mine I do not hear the exhaust noise from the rear only the loud noise from the engine, or what seems like engine/transmition. Kind of like a streight pipe cruiser. (sort of) I also thought it might be the exhaust manifold not sealed properly, but no leaks. Seems more internal. I had it at the dealer this week and they said there was no issue, but they didn't have another one to compare to.
Is this my imagination or does anyone else find their Kodiak loud? Is it louder than other brands, or is this a possible problem? It is kind of annoying when driving 30Mph or more.
Any help appreciated.

I also thought mine was loud....after about 400 miles I checked the valve adjustment..it was fine....road another 200 mile and started running high test 91 octane and it seems much quieter now...

I have a Wolverine and i was thinking the same thing too. I believe thier the same motor. Much louder than my friends 400. I only have 70 or so miles on it now, maybe it will make a little less noise later.
