Default Banshee Cylinder Smoking

On my 2000 Shee, I have one muffler that just blows out smoke and the other is pretty clear. Why is this? Should I get a rebuild? Thanks

what's the compression in that cylinder compared to the other?

I would lay money you got a crank seal leaking oil out of your case on the side that is blowing smoke..Just take both your covers off and replace both...Its not hard to do..just take your time and do it right...I went though the same prob with a buddies banshee..easy fix..Its just the seal..dont mess with the bearings...

I'd be surprised if leaky crankshaft seals caused the left cylinder to smoke.

If it were the left outer seal, I would think you'd have lean condition due to that side sucking in air and you'd see no smoke. If the right side smokes, that crank seal would suck in transmission oil in additon to air.

A couple of questions:

Is bike running on both cylinders? If not change spark plug. Is by chance the pilot jet in the carbs plugged, if not are the carbs in sync. Like RP YFZ said I dought it is a crank seal. Try above and see what happens.

If it is a crank seal, the case must be split. the seals have a lip that fits into the grooves in the case. Pounding the seal in is not the correct way of putting in seals.

Banshee is definately running on both cylinders, and has a ton of power. Just the one side smokes way more.

Improper float setting or a bad float valve can cause one cylinder to smoke more than the other

Which side smokes? If it's the right side, then I'd suspect a crank seal. if it's the left, then back to the drawing board.
