my kodiac wont go over 20mph! i know how to fix!

Recently, my kodiac would not shift into higher gears. It would rev out at about 20mph. It did this after i sank it in a mudhole. First off i dont know how other four wheelers work, but if you have a kodiac, DO NOT PUT IN MUD OR WATER ABOVE THE RIMS! The snorkel under the back plastic will suck water into your clutch cover. What happened is the mud got packed into the hub that expands as you speed up to give you a higher gear ratio. It is easy to fix. First you have to take off the footweld, then the cover. After that there is one nut that holds the pulley on, the pulley closest to the front. You may have to have air gun to get the nut off i dont know, but you dont have to have a pulley puller. It comes off and comes apart very easy. Take it apart and clean all of the mud out of it and the bushings. This should fix your problem. It fixed mine. Yamaha makes a killing off of this im sure. They charge you 300 dollars and just clean it out. Dont let them tell you the clutch is burnt out. There are no clutch plates or anything. It is just metal on metal and just slides in and out to increase speed. Check it yourself first. The belt could be stretched but check for yourself first. Yamaha will try and burn you! Hope this helps.

exactly, alot the to read so i quit after the third line, or so, but you can't go deep in water with the older style kodiaks as the clutch gets filled with water and doesn't shift properly and just revs to the roof in 1st.

You must have an older kodi.
The 03 and newer ones can go past the headlights deep and not have any water or mud enter the cvt. That is IF all the clamps and hoses are attached properly for the breathing system of the cvt. The air intake is behind the tail light, and the exhaust is under the hood, and much higher than the headlights.
