Wrong size belt? A smaller belt would basically result in shorter gearing.
Either that or the belt isn't broken in yet and is slipping. I think the break-in period is 10 hours on a new belt. Not sure if it makes that much difference though.

Whats the part number on the belt? Is the belt you put on an original polaris belt? Did you install the belt where you can read the numbers when you stand next to it? Did it top out faster before you put the new belt on? Sorry for all the question but it could be a few different things. And by the way Welcome to the fourms.

Thanks
I called the dealer today, they never heard of breaking in the belt, they told me either motor mounts or it is not in line anymore. Thing is I just changed the belt because it was two years old and a little worn and it was working fine before the new belt, I should have just kept driving it, I wish I would have kept the old belt.
Thanks for the response guys.

Makes you wonder if the people at the dealership have ever read an owners manual.
Like when I was first looking at Polaris ATVs, I asked the salesman what type of twin the 700 had, a V or Parallel, and he said, "well it sort of has both." What kind of idiotic answer was that?

check the nylon limiter nut on your drive clutch its inside the spring on your drive clutch. If it comes loose it wont let you clutch shift out completely and around 45 is usally top speed when they come loose. You can put loctite on it if its loose to help prevent this from happening again. Pull six bolts out of outer cover and spring out to get to limiter nut.
