The Rubicon has drums on both sides of the front. As far as servicing them, I have not done this yet so I cant help you there.

Both front wheels have brake drums. After you remove the wheel there is a nut in the center of the drum with a cottr pin through it. Remove the cotter pin and the drum should slide off. If it wont come off you may have to back the brake adjusters off a little bit, but being so new you shouldn't really have to.

Boots, those are easier than a pickup to work on. Just remove the drum as stated earlier, and the shoes come off easily with a couple rotating clips. just spray some brake cleaner in there to get ut the trash that will be there. pay attention to the funny shaped o-ring on the brakedrum itself, it is easily damaged. make sure to not handle the shoes with oily hands as they will be contaminated and WILL NOT work anymore. I hate to brand bash but Honda brakes could be improved on a lot as could the ones on my Suzuki.
Be careful not to lose the little red plugs on the drums as that is your only defense against the dreaded water. drop me a line if you need any further help..
