You are probably in need of a new cable...They can start to fray with time...which will make it hard to push.

Check the cable for kinks or bends....check the Y connection to the carbs. (does it still have the TORS?)

Try lubing the cable until you see the lube coming out near the carb tops.

Take the cover off the thumb throttle and make sure that no dirt has accumulated inside the housing.

I have heard of some people using softer return springs in the carb. (I don't think I would though)

Just some ideas.
good luck.

ahhhh been there! take tops off of carbs (1 AT A TIME SO U DON'T MIX UP SLIDES) take out springs and cut one curl off each spring. make sure to cut both even. works great, another option is to get a bit less stiff springs at a hardware store, I am speaking from experience and many thumb pumped moto X and gncc races!

Not sure if anyone else has done this, but it's works.

There is a secondary spring return in the thumb throttle box, I took it out for my wifes and a friends banshee. That spring isn't real strong but it does provide additional pull, and my wife said it made all the difference removing it for her.

Give it a try, you could always put it back.
