Default On End Storage?

Hi all,
I was wondering if it was acceptable to store a Recon and a Rancher standing up and resting on the rear rack? I'll turn the gas off, but are there any problems with the gas coming out of the cap, the oil resting in a different part of the engines? Are the batteries sealed (I'll have to go out and take a look at that)?
I'm running out of room in the toy box (garage) and just thought this might give me some more room.
Thanks!

if you try that, you'll probably have a mess.

no, the battery isnt sealed. the oil might drain out into the airbox. I really would not recommend trying that, it was meant to be on all 4's. You have other things too like brake fluid that could leak back down out of the front brakes and then you'll be bleeding brakes, etc....

Depends on how long of a storage time. If your talking about months at a time you can drain the gas, oil and get the battery out (brakes are a sealed system so no worry there) and stand it on end with no problems. If your talking about a day or two or even a few weeks then obviously that won't be worth the trouble.

I stand them on end all the time at work. That's how I change out the angle sensors so fast. Also how I work on the clutches.
Before I stand one up I turn the fuel off and drain the carb. If you don't drain the carb, the fuel that's in the bowl will leak right into your air filter. And what does gas do to your air filter oil? It removes it.

I don't know about doing it for a prolonged period though. I normally just have them there for no more than an hour. Even when I am replacing clutches. The only thing I think you would really have to worry about is the battery leaking.

I do it only for short times to work on it. I would be very wary of doing it for any long periods of time. Does the owner's manual say anything????

I didn't see anything in the Owner's Manual. Thanks for the replies.
