87 trx250x carb problems
#1
I recently purchased a trx250x that had been sitting for a few years. after rebuilding the carb, flushing the tank and installing a new plug I have it running. It seems to be running rich and won't idle, i've ordered a new float hoping that will solve the problem. If anyone with experience with the trx could point me in the right direction i'd appreciate the help.

I'm having the same problem! Have a '87 TRX250x. Rebuilt the carb, changed air filter. Don't have a clue what's wrong. The bike runs ok under a load, but as soon as I grab the clutch and remove the load, the RPM's jump through the roof. Tried rejeting the carb and that didn't seem to help. I need help too.

Try adjusting the carb by the adjuster screw on the bottom of the carb and try and tune it in...Welcome to the forums...Sweet I am guessing you are a Ford guy by the name Mustang 76 my dad has a 68 428 CJ and I have some pics posted in my pics page if you are interested.

One other thing I forgot to mention, how do your jets seem to be, are they clean so you can see light through them?...My neighbor has a recon with the same carb and I am always cleaning it...Make sure the jets are fully cleaned and make sure you have the intake tubeconnected tightly.
