itp 589s vs. Dirtdevil xts
#1
Can anyone tell me which tires are better for all around riding? I have a Honda 450 Foreman 4x4 and ride mostly on leafy dirt trails with a little wet creek riding with muddy hills. Also on the road a little. I am looking at the Dirt devil xts and the itp 589s. My stock tires are 25s. Can I go to 26s without any mods? The things I am concerned about are puncture resistance, smoothness of ride, rim saver, and which will last longer.

I ran 27" Dirt Devils on my Foreman with Highlifter springs and a Perfex long travel kit. I have had great wear out of them and they are now on my Rincon. There has been almost no wear. They are a good all around tire. No punctures, no cuts, very smooth ride.
I have seen 589s with punctured sidewalls that were only 2 days old. I know that can happen with any tire, but I just keep hearing of ITPs doing this. I have ridden Tellico and Windrock numerous times and have had zero problems with the Dirt Devils.

The Dirt Devils are a great all around trail tire and ride smoother than 589's. The Dirt Devils tread wraps around to the side of the tire some while the 589s do not. Both of my Grizzlies are running 26" Dirt Devils and the set on my '02 have over 2000 miles on them and they still look great. I've yet to get a puncture in a Dirt Devil or Gator (both made by the same company). My only experience with 589s are a 27" set which I run on my '02 Grizzly in the winter. They seem to be tough as well, but as I said before they ride rougher. I'd also say they are just a little bit better in the mud than the Dirt Devils, but even still the Dirt Devils will handle most mud applications just fine...
