Default 04 griz bogging out

I have an 04 grizzly that likes to bog out when it's hot and it hits water fast. I was told it is because the resulting steam has nowhere to go and is actually sucked into the air intake? I don't know if this is true but it makes sense to me. How can i fix this..... I was told i could drill holes to allow steam to escape but i don't know where. Also does any one know if you can flip your a-arms from the left to the right and vice versa to lift the quad? Any help would be great. Harvey

If you are going to go with the holes to let out the steam you should put them in the black plastic that covers the engine. I actually put 2 inch sliches all the way down the side of the plastic then coverd the slits with wire mesh with 1/2 inch square sto keep the junk out of the engine. It works great. I havent had the quad BOG since.

As for the a arms i have no clue but it looks like you might be able too. But I have never hear of doing a lift that way. If you want a lift kit go to yaskyatv.com they have a couple of options to choose from.

Hope this helps.

Had the same thing happen to me last week on my 05 Kodiak.
Anyone here of any other cooling system mods for newer model Yamahas? I'd rather not put any self inflicted holes/cuts in my plastic.
