Polaris ATV Keys
#1
Looking for a place (reasonable) to create an extra set of keys to my 1997 Polaris Xplorer 300 4X4. I have the key number, but most places I have seen want $25.00 for the key, which sounds a little ridiculous to me. Any and all suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bob

I tried and the only thing they got in was the plastic cover, the Polaris Dealer then told me the key only came with the entire ignition for about $80. I told them to keep the plastic.

Did you call a locksmith? Or a hardware store? I know one of the lock companies around here carries blanks for yamahas, cost as much as a truck key..
Unless you mean they have to cut the key by code... I know some code cuts cost .$6.50 plus the blank.

I just got a key cut for my quad at the local hardware store. The guy said as long as you have something close that it is all up to the ability of the guy cutting the key. Mine looks different from the stock key, but works fine.

You should try another Polaris dealership. They should keep key blanks in stock. I've gotten 3 different extra keys made for an Xplorer, the ATP, and the X2. Each time I went they were in stock. I can't understand a dealership not having key blanks. They ran me about $6 each time. Your dealership is probably being lazy. We eyeballed the keys and each went fine when I took them to the local hardware store to be cut.

Just want to thank everyone for their input, I got on the dealer who passed me to service. Service stated they can (and will) order the blanks, not cut to my code for $(.00 ea. I ordered 2 and now I have to find a good locksmith who can cut them without destroying them. It's all good, some just better than others.
